BLS for Healthcare Providers Renewal Course

The AHA’s BLS Course provides essential skills for saving lives in cases of cardiac arrest. Participants will learn both single-rescuer and team-based basic life support techniques for in-facility environments, with a strong emphasis on high-quality CPR and effective team dynamics.

This course is specifically designed for medical professionals who require a two-year Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and currently hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support card. St. Joseph's Health ONLY recognizes current American Heart Association certifications—no exceptions.

Please bring proof of current certification to the course to present to the instructor.

• Dress Code Policy:
  Employees of St. Joseph's Health are required to adhere to the organization's dress code policy when attending class.
• Student Manual Requirement:
  All students must obtain a student manual prior to the course. This manual serves as both a resource during the class and a reference for the multiple-choice examination.

Manual Availability for St. Joseph's Healthcare System Employees:
Manuals are available for loan in the following locations:

• SJUMC (Paterson) - Hospital Library, Xavier 4
• SJ Wayne - Nursing Administration Office

For Non-Employees:
Non-employees must purchase the study materials (Basic Life Support Provider Manual, ISBN: 978-1-61669-768-6) from a bookseller of their choice.
